I mounted the gage between the air vents in the center stack:

There's no reason to bypass the oem cooler. I did remount my larger than nessasary trans cooler in front of the oem cooler to cut down on the heat dissapation as it overall cooling effect is too much. It will definately not overheat though.

Just remember that if you install a trans cooler you risk invalidating the warranty on the trans and who knows whatever else they'll try to invalidate due to the modification.

Not necessarily so. The factory service manual recommends an auxiliary cooler if the transmission overheats.

"Not necessarily" being the key wording as there's a lot of uncertainty in that term. At this point it seems as though they'll invalidate the warranty if you so much as talk to loudly near your Jeep.

Yeah, but the stealer might have to be the one to make that call. Trying to get a clear answer from them about mods even good one like this isn't always easy. Mine always starts with WELL IT DEPENDS They seem to work that to their advantage.

Yes, it would be best to coordinate the addition of an aux trans cooler with the dealer. Here is what they would be reading in the service manual:

The customer driving patterns may indicate the need for an additional transmission oil cooler.

That's good information to bring to the dealer. If it says it in the manual, it should be allowed.

But I think someone posted here that even the dealer wouldn't do the install. So it's kinda confusing; how could they recommend this mod if they don't offer it? I'd like to install one but I also want to maintain my warranty.

Surprise, surprise Just talked to my stealer and actually got a straight answer this time. I was told that a trans cooler in line with the existing factory cooler would be a good idea and would not void the warranty.

I was just going to call, too. Now I don't have to.
