Exclamation overheating / wierd nosies..

has any one have any problem with ur jk's ova heating? the dealer told me it was a mud clogged radiator, to they charged me $200 to remove it and clean it. its ok at road speeds , but now it only over heats in 4lo, but then its ok when the heater is on. if my radiator is "clean" then when would it over heat?

next....

has any one had this happen to them:

riding around on the trail, and all the sudden have a loud quick hissing noise (sounded like compressed air escaping) followed be a cloud of white smoke.

it happen like 3 times when my jeep was runnin hot, and once when running at normal temp.

thanks for any help on these problems

I have heard of several issues with mud in the radiator.

yes when you go in mud you need to power wash the radiator to get the mud out from between the coils/fins (whatever you want to call it) or it will over heat. If you can pass air through for the fans how are you going to keep it cool at low speeds?

We had a Dodge Durango who rides with us. He overheated BAD because he radiator was about 3/4 caked in clay. Once he cleaned it off, no problems.

WOO HOO, I am a little tea kettle short n stout, here is my handle, here is my spout..........

Put a whistle on the relief, it'll scare the crap out of people.

Seriously, this is another reason to do the screen mod to the grill, trap the mud before it gets to the A/C cond, the Radiator, the trans oil cooler, etc.

A High pressure sprayer can be a disaster, the high water pressure can bend or fold the fins over thus restricting yet more air flow.

Use a screen and watch your temps whenever offroading.

Sounds to me like it is your a/c system bleeding off pressure. I had an 89 mustang that the elec fans went out on and that is how I found it.

Go out and start it with the hood up. Make sure the engine is cool and the ac is off. See if the fans are turning.

Turn the a/c on and the fan should be running. I would also check your system pressure.

The fans should turn anytime the a/c compressor is running.

I might be smoking crack but it sounds like you have a fan problem.
