Default Over the tire bike carrier?

Does anyone know a good bike mount that i can throw over the spare tire....without the top off? I don't have a hitch and I am wondering if there is a way I can transport the bike without just throwing it in the back and possibly ripping the seats because of the metal studs on the pedals....Thanks - Josh

i've used thule before, a base plate mounts between the spare tire and spare tire mount. the rest of the bike rack mounts to it's base plate

mine was a 2-bike mount. with no bikes on, the horizontal bars fold down

I used a Swagman on my old TJ that worked really well. Just attached to the rear mount.

My cousin has a Thule mount on his JK. Here's the model: http://www.quadratec.com/products/92025_0001_07.htm

Pretty sturdy and held both of our bikes back and forth from the bike trails.

I ran thule for a while but it doesn't work with 35s. Yakima just came out with one that does so che ck them out. 2 bike mounts between the spare and carrier. Probably around $175. Becaerfule though, the added weight isn't good for the gate. One bike not that often. Two bikes all the time with larger tires...don't do it. Check the yakima spare tire rack though, I see them on craigslist now and then.

I have the Yakima Sparetime it mounts on the spare tire carrier with the spare tire. It also has extensions for wider tires.
