Default Oil Options for JK

My 08 is burning a ton of oil. Getting ready to change the oil at about 5k and not a drop on the dip stick. In lieu of the 5w20 called for in the manual, is there a better option that will help with this? It has about 80k miles. Thanks

Here's a big thread about the 3.8 burning oil. Lots of suggestions:

10w40 but more importantly, check your oil routinely

I would try some 10W30. Have you changed your pcv valve?

I will look into 10w40. Saw someone else mention 5w30. Not sure which would be a better option. anyone know if high mileage helps with the seals?

I generally check my oil, but it had escaped be for a month of so and then I drove it a ton in relief work in Oklahoma and put on over 2K miles in a week two weeks ago.

Thanks for the advice and links.
