I change mine when OIL CHANGE warning comes on ... sometimes it's a little over 3K .. sometimes it's under ... Last time it was only 2500 miles when the warning came on .. but that was because I towed a trailer 600 miles and ran the Uwharrie trails over the weekend.

I change every 5k. If I was making a long trip over 5k I would change just because I'm OCD

If it's the first 3,000 I would change it. It probably wouldn't hurt anything to run it but I like to get the factory oil out after running it around 2,000 and put in some fresh oil of my choice. Some people do it before that.

How are you guys getting 5K without the OIL Warning ?? There is no way mine would go that far. Or are you just resetting the warning?

My warning comes on between 5000 and 5500, like clockwork.

Different driving styles and conditions.

NJBlackBetty- I usually don't do any maintenance right before a trip (I'll do it a week or two before, if necessary). I have heard too many tales of woe along the lines of some eff-up that requires getting a new part that isn't available, etc., thereby screwing up the trip.....

but I would do that first oil change soon, get out that break-in oil.

The manual for the 2011s say every 8000 miles! No way I could go that long!

I change every 5 to 6k and have never had a warning light or any issues.

I check my oil at every fill up, and add accordingly. Mobil1 synthetic all the way, 5w30 for the win
