Default Noise from underneath....

After a few belly drags, I am hearing a sound that could be something broken or loose under my JK. I only hear it when I put my foot to the gas, and it has kind of a hollow sound to it. I am wondering if I did something to my exhaust......I looked under the Jeep the best I could, but nothing is obviously jacked up. Any suggestions?

Do you hear it while sitting still reving the gas or only moving?

I cant tell if it is from the front or the rear, but I am leaning more to the front. Does a broken motor mount make that kind of sound?

Noises are can be hard to diagnose at times. Even harder over the internet, lol.

I would examine the entire exhaust system looking for evidence of leaks. Basically any black soot will be a giveaway of a leak.

If you think it may be a motor mount then take a look at those too. Look for cracks in the rubber or leaking fluid. Someone chime in if our motor mounts are not a fluid filled type.

Your best bet is to start ruling things out.

Thanks. I guess it is hard to diagnose sounds over the net! I will check out the exhaust tomorrow.

Check the welds on the crossover exhaust pipe heat shield , one little broke weld makes it sound like you got tranny probs when you gas it. On mine one broke , I pryed it away with a screwdriver, no more noise. A month later, same thing, next weld. Check also the u-bolts that clamp your exhaust together.

Check the exhaust pipe under the drivers seat the spot where the pipes go from 2 pipes to 1 pipe has a clamp around it . On mine this was loose and would rattle when on the gas. I tightend it and no more rattle.

Does it bark when you stop?
