Default No more 4.10 on Rubi Automatic?

I went to the Jeep homepage today to build a Rubicon Unlimited, and it won't let me add the 4.10 rear end if I select an automatic transmission? Is this an error? Anyone know what is going on?

Thanks-

I have 4.10 in my 13 auto. I did have to pay for it, $195 option I believe.

Right, I knew it was available, but why has that changed in the last few days on the build a jeep page? I'm hoping it is a glitch or something. Perhaps Jeep is worried about fleet mileage? Just confused.

It's not a glitch, I argued with the dealership when ordering my '13 and 4.10 is only standard on the 6-speed now! They are trying to improve MPG numbers I believe and the 3.73 gears get better MPG...

I went with 6-speed on mine but was still pissed that the rubicon now is not standard with 4.10s if you get auto

I ran into that issue in November '12 when I ordered my Manual Rubi, I noticed it forced the gear selection as well. While not a problem as I wanted a manual with 4.10 I found it curious.

Talk to your dealer directly about it, as sometimes the dealer order page and the public website aren't perfectly in sync.

CAFE means plastic disposable cars ultimately (they are just about there already). At the risk of the current regime sending a drone after me, I find all of this government intrusion getting to be unbearable.

Let me have my 4.10s with a diesel and I promise I'll use only biodiesel to remain carbon neutral. Sounds fair to me. Heck, make it a biodiesel hybrid with a wind turbine mounted to the top and ill make the surplus energy available to the grid.

I keep forgetting this is one of the reasons I get less-than-desirable mileage on my 2007 X w/ Auto slushbox. IIR, 2007 was the only model year that offered 4.10s in anything besides a Rubicon as std equipment.

I'll happily take my 4.10 gears and crappy gas mileage for a little more power any day!
