I have it on my LHD '09 X 6spd and I don't like this feature at all.

On a hill, I usually hold the brake while releasing the clutch to the friction point, so there's just enough to hold the Jeep from rolling back, then move my foot from the brake to the throttle and move off. I never roll back and this is very gentle on the clutch and very smooth.

Now, with this wonderful hill start assist "feature", when I move my foot from the brake to the gas and start to add a little throttle while releasing the clutch, it feels like I left my e-brake on. I've almost stalled it a couple times and my moveoff is less than smooth when this feature chooses to engage.

It also doesn't seem to have very good logic when choosing to enable itself. I drove to a fairly steep hill with the sole intention of seeing how this feature works and couldn't get it to engage at all.

I've been driving standard for a long time and am quite competent and smooth but this feature does nothing but cause trouble for me. I'm thinking about disabling this feature rather than learning to live with it.

Can anyone post the procedure to dissable it? Assuming you can take care of it like the seatbelt chime and the ESP.

Default How to turn HSA off or on.

Hi gang, well I've not as yet tried to get mine on, with what you say I might leave it. Happy Jeep'in Dave.

If you wish to turn off the HSA system, follow this
procedure:
1. Start with the engine off and vehicle in PARK (automatic
transmission) or NEUTRAL with clutch out
(manual transmission) with wheels straight. Apply parking
brake on manual transmission vehicle.
2. Start the engine.
3. With the engine running, the brake applied, and the
clutch out, rotate the steering wheel 180° counterclockwise
from center.
4. Press ESP OFF switch four times within twenty seconds.
5. Rotate the steering wheel 360° clockwise (180° clockwise
from center).
6. Cycle ignition switch OFF then ON.
7. If the sequence was completed properly, the “ESP/
TCS Indicator Light” will blink several times to confirm
HSA is off.
Steps 1-7 must be completed within 90 seconds to turn off
HSA. Repeat steps 1-7 to re-enable HSA functionality.

Default No HSA on Aus 2009's

Hi gang, I've just tried using the "How to turn HSA off" instructions to maybe turn mine on. Well it did nothing, so no Hill Start Assist on Aus 2009's for sure.

I wonder if it's the case with all the right hand drive models.

Stay upright, Dave.

Thanks for keeping up updated Dave. I wish we didn't have it. All I have ever driven is stick. I don't need it.

It's kind of strange at first. Agree that it feels like you left the e-brake on and I have stalled mine a couple of times while on a hill. I'm sure I'll get used to it and at some point forget that it's even there.

Default Any RHD 2009 owners with HSA ?

Hi again gang, just wondering if there are any 2009 RHD (right hand drive) owners that don't have HSA (hill start assist) like me. Thanks, Dave.
