Default Newbie Question - Nitto Trail Grapplers, Stock Wheels, No lift.

I have a 2010 JKU Mountain and wanted to ask if I can go stock 17 wheels with stock suspension, with Nitto Trail Grapplers 295/70/17? If not what is the biggest tire in Trail Grapplers that I can go without messing with the suspension right now.

Thanks for your help.

that would be perfect, and IMO...look great! although, you should get 1.5" Spidertrax wheel spacers...you wont have the proper backspacing with the stock 17's. I just upgraded my 17's to some DC-2's Black with 4.5 backspacing and they are perfect!

Hope this helps..btw, make sure you post some pics when you get'em!

You may also have to trim the corners of your air dam. They may rub the tires on a hard turn.

Pulled the trigger today on the Grapplers 295/70/17!

You're totally right on with the rubbing on the air dam. It just barely rubs on the hard turn especially if I'm backing up and I turn the wheel all the way. Is there anything I should know before I trim them? What should I use to trim them? Wire cutters?

Great tire choice!, I have them and I only rubbed on a hard turn, backing up the driveway. This was with aftermarket wheels with a 4.5" backspacing. I don't think it will be a big issue and as others have said, just trim the air dam a little bit and you will be good-to-go! After I got my 2" coil lift, I haven't heard of any rubbing! As an fyi, my tread does stick out past the fenders by 3/8"-1/2". If you are in a state that requires full tread coverage by the fenders, you should find a service shop that lets you slip by, or swap tires/wheels with a buddy when you have to do your state inspection. Welcome to the club!!

I did 285/70/17 with stock suspension, only rub was on the front stabilizer at full turn. Did not get into big flex though. 1.5 inch spacers made all issues go away.

rub on sway bar I mean...
