Default New Recall....

Chrysler recalls nearly 300,000 vehicles
Automaker confirms braking problem affecting recent Grand Cherokees, Commanders, Jeep Wrangler SUVs and Dodge Nitros.
September 14 2007: 2:12 PM EDT

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Chrysler confirmed Friday that it was recalling nearly 300,000 vehicles because of an error in the braking system.

The affected models include 2006 and 2007 Grand Cherokees and Commanders, 2007 Jeep Wrangler SUVs, and 2007 Dodge Nitro SUVs, said a company spokesman.

An error in the electronic braking system can cause momentary braking delays on hills in rare instances. The braking system comes from a supplier outside Chrysler. An estimated 296,550 cars are affected.

Owners of the affected vehicles should receive a letter from Chrysler within the next few weeks instructing them how to resolve the issue, said the company.

But owners who experience delayed braking should take their vehicles to dealers immediately.

Default 2007 Wrangler - Anti-Lock Brake Recall

Chrysler LLC said Friday it would recall nearly 300,000 sport utility vehicles to address potential braking problems while driving uphill.

The Chrysler recall involves more than 156,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Commander SUVs from the 2006-2007 model years, more than 90,000 2007 Jeep Wrangler SUVs and nearly 50,000 2007 Dodge Nitro SUVs.

Chrysler spokesman Max Gates said the automaker had received about 20 complaints of vehicles experiencing a delay in braking when drivers tried to come to a stop after coasting uphill. To fix the problem, the computer connected to the antilock brake system will be reprogrammed.

There has been one crash tied to the issue and no injuries reported, Gates said. Owners will be notified by mail beginning later this month.

Dont know if this is where it should be posted, but figured it was worth seeing. Also "DaimlerChrysler (Charts) recently agreed to sell the carmaker to Cerberus Capital Management."

Oh great! Just had a "Stall Bug" incident last week and my build date is outside the G25 recall date (so the dealers don't want to apply the firmware update), and now THIS?

I should have waited or bought a used TJ

Didn't you say you would rather deal with the "stall bug" rather than deal with a FJ with body seam problems in an earlier post? Now you say you should have waited? Maybe you and Brinksjeep should chat with each other!!

the last recall for the stall bug cost me 60 miles per tank in fuel economy

i just hope this "reprogramming" doesn't make my fuel economy drop even more
