JK Super Freak
Don't even give a second thought till you get your jeep, not every jk is affected, my 08 had no problems and so far my 2010 is working just fine. deal with if it happens, most of the jks are fine so just dream on and enjoy.

After seeing this thread it got me wondering. I just took delivery of a 2dr 6 speed Islander on April 13th What are the chances I experience these transmission problems? Currently I have 447 miles on it. Will this occur as the miles add on?
Also I'd love to know if there is anything else I should be on the lookout for. Thanks in advance

A Fiat Diesel engine is a truly scary thought
After Fiat was driven out of this country for their extremely poor quality, high frequency of repair record and poor customer service. Fix It Again Tony.

sweet JK
overheating is only for Auto tranny, manual have the pop out of gear problem but if I remember correctly it a easy fix.
As for the auto overheating just add a aftermarket cooler and monitoring.
I think the JK is a well balanced build as we have all the fail possible but none affecting over 40% of it owner base except maybe leaky top and steering clunk.
So far I only got the steering clunk no leak on the hard or soft top the engine is taking a little Oil but under 1/2 QT for the 5 000 Km period (if the dealer don't f* up and forget 1 QT)

Congratulations! I have been looking all over about the transmission issues. If it's an auto, chances are you're fine. The only real recalls I've seen took place for the end of 2007 through the mid of 2008. Most people have had no transmission issues to speak of.
Great Jeep!
*Edit - I just noticed it was a Mountain Edition. Cool!
