Default New gears?

Hey guys, newbie here. I'll be doing a lift kit soon with 35" tires. I was looking at a parts catalog and it said to upgrade the gears. What gears do I have now and what do I need to buy?! I have a 2013 wrangler 2dr.
Thanks, John

What model did you go with? Check out you're build sheet if you want to be sure, but the '13s have 4.10 in the rubicon manuals, 3.73 for everything else manual, and 3.21 for all the autos except the rubicons which I think is 3.73

I don't have the build sheet (I'm an idiot). Lol. I have a wrangler sport with 6 speed Manual.

My 2012 has 3.21's with manual shift. If I had it to reorder I would have went to 3.73's, but I got used to it now. And the 6th gear is nice on level roads.

It should be a 3.73 ratio, you can run 35's with that with a manual just fine, autos you'd have some trouble. If you do feel the need to upgrade I'd suggest a 4.56 if you're gonna stay at 35"s and drive on the road a lot, 4.88-5.13 if you wanna go bigger and have some offroading fun

I drive the highway about 50 miles a day for work. I'll look up the 4.88 and see what it'll do for me. Thanks for the info.

He speaks the truth. I've got a 12 with 35's and had 3.73. It was acceptable but not ideal on the highway and sucked off road. I'm on 4.88 now and love it on the rocks.

It isn't the greatest on the highway for gas bit I'm still around 18 MPGs and can use 6th gear again. I've got a heavy rig for a 2 dr, about 310lbs on back with the bumper and wheel and 220 out front with the bumper and winch plus 3" lift and no air dam so I'm pretty happy with the mileage I get.

I really think 4.88 is where a manual JK with a 3.6 on 35's should be but if it doesn't do much crawling and you want to save gas the 4.10 to 4.56 range is more practical.

Thanks for the input, I'm glad I joined this forum. I'm sure I'll have a lot more question as I start beefing the rig.
Thanks, John
