New Gas Tank
I too have the gas overflow problem. My 07 Rubicon has 43,000 miles, out of warranty. So, I call the Jeep dealer, they tell me they've replaced the tank on a few JKs. I explain my lack of warranty. They tell me to call the Jeep complaint line 1-800-992-1997. I call and explain the problem. They tell me to take the jeep to the dealer for diagnosis with the claim number they gave me. I took it in this morning and the dealer already had the claim number because the complaint person called them. Anyway, long story short, they are going to replace the tank, out of warranty, if I pay 25% of the cost of the tank $100 total. Tank alone is $400 plus install, they're not charging labor. Not outstanding, but better than a kick in the nuts.

Sounds a little crazy to replace an entire tank for a small problem. This has been covered before, yes sometimes the tanks spurt some out or over fill before the auto shut off engages at the nozzle. My solution, don't leave the handle unattended and be mindful.

That's asking an awful lot in today's society.

If you have this problem, pumping gas at even the slowest rate is not a solution, it still will gush gas back out. It helps certainly, but does not cure it.
And yes, standing there in control of the pump is the best "solution".
But it still does not negate the fact that it should not happen, does not happen on most other vehicles, and is a problem.
I am not sure why Chrysler has decided to replace the entire gas tank, but that does seem to be their "solution" to this.

I got a new tank under warranty and if you filled the tank it would over flow no matter how slow you pumped the gas. The dealer told Me the anti spill rollover valve that is built in the tank was defective. I had to wait a couple of months for the tank that was on backorder. no fill ups was a PITA

The problem is when it overflows AFTER the pump stops flowing fuel (automatic shut off, or filling slowly and stopping when it's full). For whatever reason, either the guides for the valve, or the spring, the rollover valve pushes the fuel out. It's not an issue with pumping style or being lazy. It's an issue of a crappy design on that valve.
Oh, those commies only went 50/50 with me. The Jeep is ready, and I'm on a business trip.
Make sure you fill out a complaint with the NHSTA.

Tank ordered
My 07 has started doing this, too. Almost out of warranty, so we took it to the dealer tday and they quickly odered a new tank with no hassle. Tank is on back order and could take up to 2 months to get. Worth the wait!
