Any Idea what kind of cost is involved in buying a used 4.0 L and having it installed in a 2002 Grand Cherokee? I have a estimate from the dealer to fix 2 lifters and possible lower end damage! $4500. this sounds like robbery? any thoughts ?

Sounds a little high considering I found a complete long block engine for your rig at a cost of about $1800. Typically, an engine swap should be around 8-12 hours of flat rate time, if your shop charges $100 anhour, that would $3000 total (ballpark figure).

Sounds like you need to get a second opinion.
