Default New audible whine when opening a door 07JK

Recently noticed that when opening any door with the JK off there is a noticeable 3-5 second whine. Sounds like something powering up.
Anyone know what this is?
Thanks!

Mine has always done the same thing. There have been lots of opinions over the years of what it is. No one has actually pinpointed it yet. A lot of the guesses include things my JK doesn't have.

i had the same noise (big whine when opening) after i had left the door not closed proper for the night . im suspecting that hinges need to be well lubricated and that the hinges are also very suceptible to the weight of the doors ..
i would suggest greasing the hinges of the doors ...

it's definitely not the hinges. something electrical is powering up.

I know sometimes the heater blend doors can be heard resetting when I open mine. Maybe that's it? You could hear the same sound when that happens on my old Grand Cherokee limited too.

Yeah it's most likely your blower outside air damper closing/opening

I had a car before that made a similar sound and it ended up being the dome light bulb. Lived with it for years and finally figured it out one day. New bulb fixed it. Never figured a bulb could make such a noise.
