Default New 2008 Wrangler

yea..New guy with another tire question.

I just bought a 2008 wrangler 2d..with the 17"rims. And I am new to Jeeps period.

I was looking at buying some AT tires but I want more agressive and bigger without goin lift (if I can help it).

Here is the question..Does anyone have info on staying stock(no lift/stock rims) with tire sizes that are still feasable. It has 255/75R17's now, the Tires I was lookin at are the BFG's 285/70R17 T/A KO's (by the chart I was lookin at these tires are real close to each other in size. Any idea on how big I can go?

Thanks for any info that you guys can provide.

I love this forum, been reading for 3 days and have learned so much already.

I think the stock rim limits you before the Jeep does. There's a pic recently posted with a Jeep on 35 inch tires with no lift. I guess it you stay skinny enough you can have 35s on the stock rim but it still may rub when you turn all the way.

I don't think you will have any problems with the tire you are looking at as far as height is concerned.

285/70R17 is probably as big as you want to go - since that's putting you at about 32.7". You could stuff a little more under the wells but you'll have to probably trim a little - that or not ever wheel as you'll really have rubbing problems. You can definitely fit 35's under with no lift, but you'll have rubbing issues as I said. 285/70R17 is a good size tire to go with stock. If you want to go a little bigger just buy a budget boost to give you the clearance and you'll be fine.

Welcome!

I know you specified "AT" tires, but you might want to consider some stock Rubicon tires. You can pick them up pretty cheap, and they will fit with no issues.

Just put some 315's under there or something equal to a 35...lol. I would go with a Rubi tire or something 33 in tall. I can say that a 35/12.50 will fit without any rubbing at all on a 3.75bs wheel, I put on a 1inch BL and trimmed that blade in front of my back tires and now I dont even rub at full flex . No, lift or anything and I'm more worried about a back bumper so I can carry a 35 safely than getting a lift. Right now a lift kit would be strickly for looks and nothing else. I'm not spending that much money for something I don't need.
