Default Need help with an RV towing a 2012 JKU

I just upgraded my 2008 Wrangler 2-dr Sahara to a 2012 Unlimited Sahara (Dover) and I'm trying to understand my new Jeep when it comes to towing it behind my RV. In my 2008, when I put the transfer case into neutral and into PARK, it wouldn't register any miles while I'm towing it behind the RV. Now, when I do the same process, it's registering all the tow miles. Do I need to disconnect the battery? It doesn't say that I do in the 2012 user manual, but it did in the 2008 manual. Help!

I don't know for sure but I'd try it and see what happens. worst case is that it does nothing.

We have a 2011 and it does not register. There is no steering lock on ours. Are you turning off and removing the key?

No...I'm leaving the key in and putting it into the "Accessories" position like I use to in my 2008. Should I not be doing that?

With no steering lock (assuming the 12s don't have it either). You can turn off and remove the key. No need to disconnect battery or pull a fuse.

If the 2012 is like our 11, you can turn off and remove the key. No steering lock! Yea

Thank you everyone for your help! That was the issue....don't leave the key in the ignition at the accessories position.

I was under the impressions that all miles while having a vehicle in tow should still be registered as miles anyways, hmmm
