Default Need help!!!

I used the 3M throttle body cleaning kit and everything went fine at first. Used the injector cleaner and engine cleaner and it was running fine, then I cleaned the throttle body and went to start the engine. All my lights came on. ESP, TRACTION and CHECK ENGINE. The whole engine is shaking and and my vehicle will not accelerate past 1500 RPMS!!! Please help! Is it even safe to drive to the dealer?

Okay now I restarted it and it is runing fine but the check engine light is still on and its throwing codes P0222 and P0123.. The codes are

P0123 - Throttle Position Sensor 1 Circuit High

and

P0222 - Throttle Position Sensor 2 Circuit Low

I need to clear the codes though before I go to the dealer cause I have the Hypertech. Can I safely clear these codes and have them clear the check engine light, or could something be broken. The vehicle now feels like it is running fine.

Did you get the codes after using the 3m product? Describe what you did.
When you cleaned the thottle body plate did you allow it to dry for 10 min before replacing the intake hose and starting the engine? If you started the engine with the intake hose off your check engine light will illuminate.
By the way, Hows your engine idle now?

First I used the engine cleaner. I inserted the u-shaped hose between the throttle plate and the air boot and let the can empty for ten minutes while my friend blipped the throttle at 1500 RPMs as per the 3M instructions. I then let it idle and shut it off and everything was fine. Next I removed the air boot again and sprayed throttle cleaner on the plate and around it, but not in the engine. I then dried it with a cloth and put the air boot back on, tightened the clamp and started the engine. All lights came on, the engine was making noise and shaking and the Jeep would not accelerate above 1500 RPMs.

I shut the engine off again waited five minutes and started it again. All lights went out this time EXCEPT the check engine light and it made a ding upon starting but the Jeep seems to be driving fine. I checked for codes and found the two I have listed above.

Thats weird I used regular throttle body cleaner and went to town in there. I sprayed the hell out of it, dried what i could with a cloth then started her up. I also disconnected the air sensor before removing the throttle body hose. It started a little rough at first but then leveled right off. Where is the throttle positioning sensor located i wonder? Why don't you just disconnect your battery posts and ground it out to clear your codes. Then try firing it back up again. Theres a post on here somewhere on how to do it exactly. I did it once but forgot if its the neg that needs to be grounded or positive.

first, if you have an OBD II computer reader, try to clear the codes and see if that 'ol check engine light comes back on, maybe even disconnect the battery for a few minutes. if not, i can think of 2 things:

1) the air sensor could have been damaged when the hose was disconnected

2) the sensor could have been damaged from the chemical contact? not sure..

let us know what happens!

ok will do. Im gunna go reset the codes with the Hypertech now and disconnect the battery overnight. I guess if it doesn't come back on it means the sensor is ok?

The only plug I saw was going into the air boot so there is no way cleaner got in there as I dried the throttle before putting it back on. maybe i stretched the wiring for it too much when I moved the air boot out of the way? Although that would not explain why the whole engine freaked out when I fired it up the first time..

Yea there is, turn the key to on 3 times in rapid succession then the computer will scan and throw any codes in the information center, or say no codes (or something like that). I've never had it post minor codes but any major codes should post.

that doesn't clear the codes, it just tells you what codes there are.

the Hypertech will clear the codes

Ok, let the batt disconnected overnight.

Started up this morning. No more check engine light, no more codes!

Jeep is running smooth and idling smooth. Gas mileage has jumped from 15 to 18.

Now if I could just fix my steering issues..

The 3M product worked great, but it is a scary procedure.
