one of my friends bought a JK (after she fell in love with mine) and i would be surprised if she gets 10k out of it before her transmission needs to be replaced. point is the whole "lady who owned it" thing could be your problem. i feel bad for her jk though its sounds like a sonic youth concert every time she drives it....

Everyone has an opinion... but what is the percentage of transmission failures? I bet it is no higher than most other transmissions. In fact, I have read as many people having issues with the manual transmissions in the Jeep.

The exact same thing happened in my 05 Willy's.....TWICE!!! Sometime you just get a lemon. trust me i know I just traded it in for a 2011 Rubi and am getting the B&M trans cooler installed in a couple days. Apparently (from what B&M says on their site) hot tranny fluids are the cause of 90% of trans failures. .... and also the jk has a rep for running the trans fluid waaay too hot cause of poor airflow to the stock trans cooler. anyway... once you get it back i also reccomend you spend an extra $50 and get the B&M cooler. its worth peace of mind

i have had it back for a couple weeks now. its working perfect. better than it did when i bought it. shifts smooth and doesnt seem to lock up anymore. i am definetly going to get a cooler and put it in, soon as it gets a lil warmer outside
