Why the TG3600? It looks like they recommend the Fram Tough Guard TG3614 for the JK?

Default 1st oil change

Well, I changed my oil/filter yesterday at 3K miles (first oil change on my JK). I purchased my supplies a couple of weeks ago.
- Mobile 1 -- 5W-20 (Fully Synthetic)
- Mobile 1 -- M1-102

I have to admit, after using Mobile 1 oil and filters for 12+ years now, I probably wouldn’t have purchased the Mobile 1 filter if I’d read this thread first. However, I already had it so I figured I see how it worked on my Jeep.

I changed my oil/filter yesterday afternoon and then drove her into the garage. This morning I got in for my drive to work, but before I started the engine I made sure every possible noise making piece of equipment was turned off; then I cranked the engine and, as usual, it started without any hesitation or strange noise. I’ve started it a couple more times (going to/coming from lunch) with no problems. I’ll drive it a few more days before I draw any conclusions, but at this point it appears that there just may be at least one good Mobile 1 oil filter.

I visited the Mobile 1 website to see what they had to say about their products and was very surprised by one of the filters they listed as an alternate to the M1-102…

From the Mobile 1 Website:
================================================
Vehicle:
Year: 2008
Make: Jeep
Model: Wrangler
Engine Type: 6cyl. 3.8Liter Naturally Aspirated
------------------------------------------------
Filter matches for the vehicle you selected:

Mobil 1:
- Mobil 1 Model M1102

Other options:
- Champion Model PH2835
- Fram Model PH3614
=================================================

Is it possible the FRAM EXTRAGUARD PH-3614 is also made by Champion Laboratories? Does anybody have any experience with this filter?

Quick question.......Was it that the Mobil-1 filter didn't have an ADBV or that it had the ADBV and it didn't work correctly...............

Just went from Mobil 1 to Fram Tough Guard and it went away from the beginning. Whether on an incline cold start or level ground, no chatter.

Glad to hear your baby is growing up. You can easily change the filter if your worried without much fluid loss. Just let it sit all night then when you change the filter you should only loose a few ounces of oil.

Well after thinking I may have gotten the only good Mobile 1 filter, this morning (2-days after the oil change) I got the unmistakable tell-tale oil pressure light blink on engine start. So, I guess I'll be changing it out very soon.

They supposedly have one, but it certainly doesn’t seem to work on JKs.

Yea I just let the dealer change my oil for me. They said they were going to use a high grade synthetic. Then I saw the sticker and they used Mobil 1 for everything. Is Mobil 1 a synthetic? And I'm getting a knock but it happens when I depress the clutch for the first time and it doesn't happen all the time. is this the knock?

I've got a Mobil 1 filter and guess what? I've now got the noise. Whatever the debate, noise like that cannot be good. I'm going to swap it out and take it back to the store to send to Champion Labs. Actually, I'm going to send it myself to make sure it gets done. I don't care about the money back. I've got a Wal-mart Supertec, which I've used with success before, but I think I like the Motorcraft with the extra capacity, so I'm going to try it out. I'd be sticking with M1, except that after Ike, I can't find any!
