Are you saying everyone here is overreacting? I'd pay $30 for a filter if I knew the ADBV would actually work. We're not here to convince anyone, we were just sharing factual information. No one here has anything to gain. Give it a rest, use whatever filter you like! If this is all you have to contribute then why bother posting here.
What are you trying to accomplish?

 

No nonsense here buddy. Just sharing my experiences and glad to read about other peoples experiences with the mobil 1 filter coz after swapping it out and using the fram tough guard i no longer have the clatter and shaking at startup after the jeep has been sitting overnight.

 

I was going to check out a wix, my Fram is doing excellent, no more chatter but I believe a Wix filter may be better. From what I heard from others as well as read in some posts. It's probably six of one half dozen of another. Can beat a Fram price though, less than 4 bucks locally.

 

Did you read that site? It's not some magazine article (I agree it's hard to believe anything is Unbiased in a magazine), it's just some guy who wanted to know what the truth is about each filter. He states he is no expert and basically just cut's them open so you can see what each is made of and then gives some personal opinions based on what he has seen.

He even says that he can't find anything really wrong with the TuffGuard filters but the standard frams are worthless. You may have never had a problem but there are definetly cases where they have fallen apart and ruined engines. Id rather NOT support a company that produces inferior products even if one of them is fairly good.

My personal opinion is the extreamly thin 5w-20 oil is just to thin for most ADBV's that are currently in production, especially when you switch to synthetic. I'm NOT suggesting we switch to a thicker oil, just saying I bet if we did this wouldn't be a problem.

 

This is NOT nonsense, and nobody is trying to convince anyone of anything. We're just trying to find a solution to a common problem. This problem is real, and for whatever reason, the cheaper products (Fram, Wix, and a few others) seem to work better in our Jeeps. I've always used Mobil 1 filters in all my vehicles up until now and swore by them, but the simple fact is that they DO NOT work well in our Jeeps. I wish I knew why, and I wish Mobil 1 would find a way to fix this so I could use their product again (I have written them a letter - no response yet. Anybody else?).

But to say that this is nonsense, just because YOU don't (appear to) have the problem, is...well...nonsense. And, I'm willing to bet you DO have the problem, you just don't know it yet, or you've just been lucky so far.

 

I've never liked Fram filters cause they were that God awful orange.

 

Let's take this one step further. The survey results are great in the other thread mentioned but who wants to take all of those filters and cut them open. Let's see just how good the filter material is. I've seen Frams cut open with cardboard and newspaper inside. I've got a spare Mopar I can cut and check.

I will solve this. Take it to the dealer to change the oil and us a Mopar lifter and if it ever causes a problem you can blame them for them doing it using THEIR product. Simple as that!

 

Yeah but who wants to mess around doing that? Likely the "techs" will get pissed with you and spit in your soup.

Also how are you going to recreate the "dry" start setting? It needs to sit around overnight to experience the problem..
