If the oil light comes back on, even for an instant, chances are your anti-drain back valve in the oil filter is not working properly. In some cases, as outlined in this thread, you can even hear the rod bearings clatter for a split second on startup. So far, I've found that WIX filters work very well. Others have had luck with other brands. I don't think there is one filter in particular that is a sure fire fix. You just kinda have to swap around until you find a good one.
Thanks for the info - I'll have to check for this next time I let 'er sit for a few days.

I've been hearing of this, but I've had the M1 filter on mine for 2500 miles and have yet to notifce a dry start.

I had mobile 1 oil filter on my jeep for about half a day. They don't seem to work on our vehicles. I swapped to a Fram Tough guard and the startup noise went away. I will never use the filter again.

Long term peice of mind and Fram do not belong in the same sentance.

For some good info about filters read this:

http://www.knizefamily.net/minimopar...reference.html

It shows what is what and why no self respecting car/truck person would run Fram on anything they actually want to keep running.

I had this exact same problem! wow it took quite a while for us jeepers to post up on this! I am going back to a mopar filter tomorow! Mine has a rough sound for a bout 1 sec and then goes back to normal. The oil pressure light also comes on and then turns off the same time the rough sound stops. My question is will this cause long term damage? will is decrease the effecency of my engine?

I've never liked Fram....but it's always just been personal preference. I usually use WIX, which is what I have now.

Read this post for a list of filters that work and don't work with our Jeeps. This was just an informal survey here on the site, but I think the results are convincing enough: stay away from Mobil 1 filters. Fram Tough guard is good, as is Amsoil and Motorcraft. Others are hit and miss.

Yeah. Would seem to be quite important. The orginal poster stated that they used 5 quarts for his oil change.

I run Mobil 1 oil and a K&N oil filter and have had no trouble with mine and I just rolled 20k last week. My 2 cents.
