Default manual transmission problems

went to start up my jeep today and it was in gear. as i turned the key the jeep started but jumped forward like it wanted to go and was making a weird rubbing noise. i then tried to get it in neutral and it wouldnt let me. so i shut it off and it shifted fine. started it back up in neutral and couldint get it into any gears. had to shut it back off and start up in 1st and pretty much force it in every gear so i could get home.
is my clutch toast?
2007 jku with 52k miles
thanks so much

You might have busted a spring on the clutch/pressure plate. This happened to me and i had a tough time getting it into gear and it would not go into reverse unless it was off. If that is the case repace the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. Make sure you also get your flywheel resurfaced. I got my LUK Clutch Kit for under $175.00 close to a year ago (parts only of course) and it works great.

It's a hydraulic actuated clutch, I'd bet the problem is related to the master/slave cylinder. Search, and you'll probably find some similar symptoms.

Edit -- just saw the weird tapping noise mentioned, and the hydraulics's won't cause that.

its happened a couple months ago and finally after a couple days of shitty driving and hard shifting it corrected on its own for several months and now back at it again
wonder if i should bleed the clutch first and see if that helps?

Update..went back out and started it up and it drove perfect and shifts perfect...just still has that same ticking noise...I made a video of it so maybe someone can pinpoint the problem for me...the noise stops every time I push or just rest my foot on the clutch pedal
