Default Manual 3rd to 5th grind

I was driving today and with the clutch to the floor at 40mph going from 3rd to 5th I ground the gears. Just to make sure I had the clutch all the way down I tried it again and it did it again. Anyone have this happen or have any idea what it needs done?
Thanks,
Steve

No, but I go from 4-6 all the time.

I've always noticed roughness shifting into 2nd and 4th, never any grinding though.

And am I missing something here, why are you guys playing oddsies and evensies? Wouldn't "3-4-5-6" be the norm? I've always driven stick and have never done that, does it serve some purpose that I am missing?

yeah ... what is the advantage of this? ... is it not bad for the tranny?

With the 4.1 gears and stock tires I've been trying odd and evens. I like the odds better ie. 1-3-5. If you use all the gears you just shift all the time. I thought my Z06 was bad. Atleast you can run though all the gears with out shifting every 5 seconds. The Rubicon takes the cake. However wouldn't trade it for anything.

Think of this scenario. You're accelerating away from the intersection and by the time you've wound out 3rd and are ready to shift, you're up to speed for the road you're on. You're going at a speed that would be ideal cruising in 5th gear so why go to 4th only to shift right up into 5th? Same would hold if you've hit speed at the end of 4th gear and shift right into 6th to cruise. Doesn't hurt the tranny, and actually saves the clutch just a little (very little, but a little).

Suppose you're slowing down from highway speed to say 25 mph for example. Do you downshift 6,5,4,3 or just drop from high gear to the lower gear that would put the engine at an appropriate RPM for your new slower speed? Same difference.
