Maintenance after sitting for 10 months...
So after a hiatus in the desert for the past 10months or so, i'll finally be home to get the girl back on the road. She's a 2010 with about 7500 miles...before i left, i put her on jackstands to get the tires off the ground, threw in some Sta-Bil, and disconnected the battery. Been sitting in the garage since. So my question(s) are:
-Normally when you do an oil change, you would run the engine up to operating temp. However, with it sitting this long, most of the oil has completely drained inot the pan...so i'm leaning towards the oil change BEFORE i start it again for the first time. Opinions?
-Other than throwing the battery on a trickle charger and the oil change, any recommendations for things to do before i take her out? Other than checking tire pressure, etc. (Its a 6-speed by the way...)

Sounds like you have everything covered; good job. I'd say change the oil before you crank it over. Like you said, it's all going to be in the pan. The only reason to warm it up is so it flows out better.
Maybe check the airfilter housing and make sure there aren't mice living in it.
Welcome Back!

Another thing you might consider is pulling each plug and pouring about a 1/2-3/4 of a cap of oil in each hole. After setting that long the cylinder walls are going to be pretty dry.

I'd use diesel instead of oil, and let it sit overnight before you crank it up.
And you only need a couple table spoons per cylinder.
EDIT:
Check over any visible wiring, mice love the coating on modern wiring.

Thanks for the "thanks"---greatly appreciated! Not back yet, got about a month to go but i more than ready lol. Tryin to get a head start on everything.
Thanks for all the advice as well---never heard of the "oil in the cylinders" approach, even though it seems to make some sense. Anyone else want to chime in on this issue?
