I removed the spring next to my hood latch and problem is cured. Good luck with yours. Most JKs have this issue.

Removing the spring only worked some of the time it still happened once and a while. I tried the zip ties it stopped the lift but I didn't like the way it looked. (jerry rigged) The dealer will laugh at you. So don't bother there.... The cure to stopping this is the Daystar Hood Wranglers. They STOP this from EVER happening again! I have had them for 7 months now and the issue is GONE.

Buy some Daystar hood wranglers. They cost about $25 and work well.

Someone was mentioning the air dam on the bottom of the bumper and I was a little confused. Do you need it? It is helpful to the air flow or does it hamper it. The reason I ask is because mine got a little bent while I was roading (you can still have fun stock too) and it jiggles and makes an annoying sound. Rather than zip tie the thing back in place I would rather remove it... good? bad?

thanks, sorry about tacking on your thread here
if you're an engineer that works in aerodynamics you could probably have an extremely long answer of why the air dam is there, and also why is so important to have it, but if you're one of the guys like me, and others, I would tell you to get rear of it doesn't do anything, probably up to 90% or more of the mod jeeps in this forum don't have it, (its worthless)

My JK is pretty much stock with Rubi tires and the air dam has been off since last year. I don't notice any difference in hood lift with it gone and I think the JK looks much better without that big hunk of plastic hanging under the front. Plus they usually get torn off on the trails anyway.

Forget the dealer! I installed the Daystar, it was a cheap fix, no worries about losing my hood anymore (each flutter freaked me out), and very easy to install. You will not regret the small investment.

Therer are a few commercial and at home fixes for this. I took the spring off, took about a minute and was free, haven't had noticeable hood lift since.

I put 5K highway miles on my JK last year on a long vacation, mostly on two-lane roads. We had a ton of hood dancing. With the air dam. The air dam doesn't do a damn thing to stop the hood shake. Two 14" Zip-ties, however, have stopped it absolutely 100%, and cost about fifty cents:
