It was nothing more than a soft vinyl pack the size of a credit card with the VIN on it. Inside the pack was a regular key (like a house key) that slid right out.

My Tahoe had the same thing. it was like a vinyl credit card with a slot in the middle that a key slid out of and it only opened the doors.

Lots of talk about the plastic "credit card" key. Anybody know how to get one for the JK?

I think people were saying you can go to the home depot and they have them... I'm not 100% that it's true though.

Went to Home Depot today. They looked at me like I was nuts, and gave some lame excuse about not being able to cut copies of any keys with chips. :naw:

Think I'll try the local locksmith tomorrow.

Definately interested in what the locksmith says.
If that's no go mayb we can do a group buy or come up with enough buyers to encourage WOL of investing, maybe they could be a sponsor...lol. This company makes them (not sure if jeep is an option) for promotional stuff. Be kinda cool to have a JK-Forum or Project JK credit card key for my jeep:D

Here's a url to their site hillmangroup.com/ekey.htm

Getting one of those wouldn't be a problem. I think most of the guys here are looking for a key you can stick in your wallet. :yup:

My explorer did it too. I became really familiar with coat hangers... and how to bend them just right to use it as a slim jim...

This happened to me once in a rental explorer in the middle of nowhere. I ended up breaking the window to get in, thank goodness for full coverage.

Just Google "Hitch Key Vault"

That's pretty sweet. Lot more secure than the hide-a-lock magnet. Thanks for posting I'd never seen anything like that.
