Limp mode / lighting bolt
Okay guys, my 2011 JK has recently started acting up, going into limp mode, traction light coming on, wreck engine light coming on and the " lighting bolt " limp mode light coming on. The codes are camshaft sensor which I replaced last week, acceleration pedal sensor and a couple voltage codes. It has been running great up until last week, after it done it the first time, I changed all plugs and wires and replaced the cam shaft sensor. I thought that fixed it but sure enough it happened again yesterday, some times it will crank and crank until it finally starts up but then runs like crap. In limp mode. After reading through many forums it seems to me like this is common but I have not seen any solutions. Please guys help me out, I don't want to throw money away by replacing a million different things that doesn't fix my problem. Did any fix this issue??

I would make 100% sure your battery is working properly. Many people have suffered unusual problems when their JKU battery went bad. When mine went bad, crazy things were happening with the idiot lights in the dash. Also, the speedometer stopped working and the tachometer looked possessed. Since you mentioned some voltage errors, that seriously makes me think the battery should be checked. Don't just read its voltage. Take it into an auto store and have them load test it.

I will take it today and have the battery and alternator tested, that would be great if it turns out to just be the battery. But, after I clear the codes it seems to run great. I've only had the Jeep for about three months now I bought it used but I'm the second owner, it was completely stock but sense then I've added, 4" rough country lift, steel bumpers, 35s, and a Treck top NX fastback soft top... lol, nothing that should be causing this problem. I do notice that when it's cold I have an exhaust leak on the passenger side of the motor but it seems to go away after it warms up. This problem I'm having seems to be a normal thing I'm finding this issue all over the internet but it seems like no one has the same fix. I'll update after I have the battery checked out. Thanks

if you have an automatic, then your shift points and speedometer will be wrong due to the unexpected tire diameter. If you have a manual, the speedo will be wrong. I've never done reprogramming , so there are more experts on here for that. Basically you need to buy a device to hook into your Jeep to reprogram the computer. Procal is a name I hear discussed often. The computer needs to know what diameter tire so that it understands how the actual RPMs relate to the vehicle speed and adjust accordingly.

I didn't make it to town yesterday, I ended up having a few errands to run. I plan to take it this afternoon though. I did however do a sea foam treatment to it last night through the break boost vacuum line. I took it down the road and she purrs like a kitten. That's what drives me crazy... I never know when it going to do it. I did find a wire ran to my fuse box that I removed ( looked like a remote wire for a radio the previous owner must have had) it was running to nothing under my dash. I'll update tonight after I take it for the batter and alt test. Here's a pic of my codes.

Update... so when I got home today I hoped in the Jeep and drove it to Advanced auto parts. Had them check my battery and my alternator. They both passed with no problem...... however, the thing ran great again , no cranking issue no lights coming on, no bad idle.... I'm gonna drive it more this week and see when it happens again..
