I've been told if you use Mobile 1 that you will hear more engine noise and ticks. I know when I switched on my Harley it had more noise. It's probably normal. I'll let you know when I switch mine to Mobile 1.

Default I've used Mobil 1 on my 2009 JK since it's break in oil change at 2,000 miles

Have used it in all my vehicles for years and swear by it.

I always use synthetic oil in all my engines. I did not notice any additional noise when I switched over, but my JK has so many sources of noise, it would be hard to detect any minor changes.

Synthetic oil known to commonly cause a bit more valvetrain noise. I have seen it attributed to its improved flow characteristics.
If it can flow in easier through the lub ports on the head, it can also flow out faster causing some tapping noise.
This is the reason that many do not recommend synthetic oil on engines with a lot of wear (mileage).

In theory it is not supposed to happen if you match the viscosity of synthetic oil to its petroleum counterpart.

Ok, doesn't JEEP give all us 2010 owners free oil changes, during the first 36,000 miles?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Royal Purple...but why spend your own money on changing your oil, and especially, incuring the extra cost of using synthetic?

That being said, and if I'm correct about above, have any 2010 owners, had a problem getting a 'free' oil change at 1000 miles (I currently have 867 miles) ?

Or do we have to wait till 3000 miles before we bring our JEEPs in for the first oil change?

from my understanding, no... 2010 services are NOT free and do not include oil changes, etc... at least not here in PA?

that was one of my first questions....

Just my opinion, if I did have free changes to 36k, I would not use it. Too many knuckle heads working the "lube bays" out there.

To the original poster, I'm thinkin you "are going crazy" lol

Ok, I swear both my Salesman and F&I guy said free oil changes and tire rotations (no brake work) were included for the 1st 36K miles on a new 2010 JEEP. It wasn't a selling point to me, cause I would have bought my JEEP regardless!

It's 9:53 EST and they're closed...I'm leaving a msg for them now, to call me back and confirm above

I was offered my first oil change free on my 2010 when I bought it and that's it But then again I don't think I'll take them up on that even and still do it myself Easy job but still so much that can go wrong, ie wrong type of oil, over tightened drain bolt/filter, stripped bolt, not enough oil put it in etc.
