Jk towed from rest stop after smoking and rumbling without key in ignition

Well, I just got a call from the dealer here in New Orleans asking for my permission to work on the Jeep and to make sure I was going to be close to my phone in case they needed to call me for more assistance in case the my windshield mounted lights on what caused the problem therefore voiding the warranty. I asked how they could have caused the problem and he replied that by having a loose battery or that the lights going through the battery could have fried the computer system in this Jeep. He then said it was all purely speculation and he had no idea at the time just calling to make me aware.
So what are the chances this is what caused my Jeep to go into convulsions and then start smoking? Then if the lights did cause this how much is this going to cost me to have it fixed?
By the way my lights are the long range KC slimlites.

This is actually the third Jeep Ive bought from Cross Motors in Louisville which has been great up until this year with their service department. In the most recent trip to get service done I went to Bales in Indiana and worked with a gentleman named Sonny who has been very helpful. This time however with the whole thing with the lights has been in New Orleans at a dealership I have yet to actually step foot on. I have done everything over the phone since Im actually a little more then 30 miles away (closest dealership to where my Jeep broke down).
Spoke to one of the guys a little before they closed and he said they found nothing that my lights would have caused and they ordered a new starter for my Jeep that wont be in until Wed. He said he wasnt sure of what caused the problem so I guess I will have to wait and see what else they have to say. I'm a little nervous at just having the starter replaced when Im about to spend about 20 hours on the road in the next 2 weeks. Im tempted to take my lights off when I get my Jeep back for my road trip just in case something else happens they cant say that is what caused it.
Either way I still love my Jeep and cant wait to get it back. When I get back to Louisville I plan on putting 2" BB on it and think I have decided on some new Mickey Thompson Baja Atz.
Thanks for all the concern guys and hopefully they can get this problem taken care of.

Lights or anything going through the battery would NOT cause a computer failure. I hope you fused the light circuit, and for anyone reading this ALWAYS put an inline fuse in accessories you add. Size the fuse for the load. That way you are well protected from ignorant or shady mechanics when you call the area rep to complain.
If they were told the lights were dealer installed they'd most likely backtrack in a sec.
Hope the call back info was a lot better. Did you ask them the cause of the fire/smoke and or the trouble code?

yeah I used the fuses that came with the lighting kit. The burning smell was definately not coming from anywhere around the battery or the wires I used to run the batterys to the light. I think I was justt worried at first thinking I was going to have to fork up a bunch of money because the Jeep people dont like to actually find the cause of something and would rather just blame it on the owners.

Just got home from work and havent heard anything from them today. I will probably give them another hour or two to call before I do so. They said there was a chance the part wouldnt be in until Wed so thats probably the soonest they will know anything. Either way I will keep yal updated on the progress and hopefully there will be a resolution before I head to Florida after Christmas.
And Fredocon... if things dont get fixed before Im supposed to leave I might have to take you up on that drink.
