I'm shopping for my JK, and I'd like some confirmation of my understanding of axle ratios
for 2007 through 2009 base gear ratio was 3.21,
JKs with the Tow package got D44 rear axles and the 07 & 08s got 4.11s, and 09s got 3.73s?

Rubicons all got 4.11s?

Did I get that right?
Any other options that drove the lower gear set in the non-Rubicons?

close. its 4.10 first of all, 4.10's are no longer available unless rubi but some 08's had 3.73

I am assuming you are talking about manual trans jks, autos had 4.10 in 07 and 3.73 for 08+(unless rubi)

As far as manual trans:
For 07:
Without tow package: 3.21
With Tow package 4.10
Rubicons: 4.10
Also, In 07 some 2 doors had D35 rears, tow package had D44

For 08+:
without tow package: 3.21
With tow package(or 3.73 gear option): 3.73
Rubicons: 4.10
All 08+ JKs have D44 rear

2007 JK's X, Sahara standard 3:21 but I believe had option of 4:10's with the tow package someone will chime in on this Not 100% sure if 3:73 were an option
2007 Rubi's standard 4:10's.

+2008 - X & Sahara standard 3:21
+2008 - X & Sahara with Tow package 3:73 gearing
+2008 - Rubi's - 4:10's

Ok, I'm looking at 2 rigs now, Both are automatics.
07 Sahara with Tow-- it should be 4.10s with a D44
08 X with Tow, it should be 3.73s with D44

Right?

Looks right Wherever you are buying from could verify.

Looks correct...put like Kupost stated...worth to run the VIN to ensure it came from factory with tow package not added afterwards....Also, this will help ensure what rear and gear ratio the JK you are looking at.

make cause you don't want to end up with a jeep that has 3.21's and someone added a hitch. try hard for 4.10's its worth it.

Thanks for the help everyone. Got my JK today. Its an 07 Unlimited Sahara. The good news is that it has the tow package, so it has the 4.10s an d for a nice bonus the L/S rear end. The not so good news is the nearly bald tires on 18 inch rims.
