Default JK HardTop Insurance question

6 inch crack on the very back of my 4dr hardtop. About 3 inches on top, and then it extends 3 inches down the back above the window, but not all the way to the window. The crack is very "thin". It did not go all the way through.

Question is, will insurance want me to just get it fixed w/ some fiberglass or do they order a whole new top? Its not even bad enough to turn in if I had to pay for it, however I have other damage that needs fixed. Anyone have any expierience w/ this?

Yes, thats why I am turning it into insurance, just curious how they will want me to get it fixed, new top or something else. Ive read they give a new top but I find that hard to beleive.

Possibly tell you that it just needs to be replaced. Otherwise buy a soft top and bank the difference

Some collision shops say that they can not match the factory texture, so the entire top needs to be replaced. Others say that they can match it. Guess your answer depends on which shop you go to, and what you insurance company believes or wants to pay.

Swapping out a hardtop for a ragtop would not be my decision. They are damn nosiy and have crummy plastic windows, and leak. If you insist on running your rig with no top, then you should have bought a soft top to begin with. Just turn the thing over to the insurance company and get on with life.

Wise post is wise! I'd do that! Those slant back hard tops are nice!
