JK 3.8l Engine - Compliance with EURO Emission Standard
Hi everyone.
I'm new to Jeep and to this forum and I wonder if anyone can give me some information about the following.
I got my JK Unlimited Sahara 3.8l a few months ago and I'm still excited about it. It’s not only me, my whole family loves it. Currently I live in Qatar (originally from Europe). I have a lot of fun going to the desert on weekends. I'm amazed about JK's performance.
Actually, I would like to import my JK to my home country but I'm not sure about it's compliance with EURO 3 and EURO 4 emission standards. My dealer can't give me the straight answer.
My question is: Does JK 3.8l engine meet current EURO emission standard? Why there is only 2.8l CRD engine on the European market? I've tried to do the research on the internet but not much luck.
It is nice to be a part of the Jeep tribe. Thanks in advance.

good question
if the jeep has usa emissions its good to go anywhere (I THINK)
i would contact whatever agency regulates car registrations in the country you will be going to and find out...... the diesel is not clean enough for usa emissions
but if it were comming here you could get a waiver or conversion i think that works everywhere
good luck

You can get both engines here in Europe. And yes both engines meet the EU emission standards.
Here's a pretty good link to clarify the Euro standards http://www.dieselnet.com/standards/eu/ld.php

RE: castellar
You are right. Something similar was explained to me by local dealer. What he said was that he can check EURO emissions compliance for my vehicle (by VIN) and get it confirmed from the factory so I shall have some kind of certificate to show to local authorities when importing. He said that he will do it when I decide to ship my JK to my home country. I just can't wait to know because I'll pack my things and leave the country in maybe 1, 2,... years time. I wonder if there are differences between petrol engines from region to region in the emissions point if view? Is it possible that my JK does not comply with EU emissions?
BTW I wouldn’t' like to run diesel in the winter. I'm happy with my petrol engine. Here is my door sticker.

All EU countries have the same standards and regulations.
Both 3.8 V6 Petrol and 2.8 TD engines are rated as EURO 4
