If I knew a Jeep was pulling a trailer at 70mph + without brakes near me they would get lots of room and be in front of me. Just me - I drive like everyone else wants to kill me.

I agree. When I towed the heavy trailer with the Jeep I had dual axle electric brakes, sway control, and weight distribution hitch. If I dialed up the brake controller I could actually stop the Jeep with the trailer brakes.

What did you use for a hitch on your Jeep? The little bolt on one?

I started with that, but it would actually twist under the torsion load of the weight distribution hitch. I replaced that receiver and the rear bumper with the Smittybilt XRC bumper and it was the best move I made. That bumper made a huge improvement in the towing performance with the weight distribution setup. At the time I was towing, that smittybilt was the only aftermarket bumper that actually gave a tow rating and tongue rating. It was rated for 5000 pounds tow and 500 pounds tongue.

Hey, thanks again for the info. Here's my list of things to do to pull a 3,500 camper (Vista Cruiser 19erd)
Gears: Go from stock 3.21 to 4.56 Yukons
Tires: Go from stock to Goodyear Duratracs 285/75R18 - (basically 35's)
Rear Bumper: Smittybilt XRC Armor Full width SMB76855
2.5 inch lift - Rubicon Express RE7141M
Brake controller/wiring
Weight distribution hitch: Still shopping

Do you think doing the spring lift and bigger tire would help or not?

Bigger tires are not going to help with towing. For a brake controller, I used prodigy 2. The nice thing about that is that I could unplug it. The jk has surprisingly little dash real estate to have a permanently mounted controller. I didn't have mine mounted. I simply placed it next to the 4x4 shift lever. Unplugged and stored in center console when not in use.
