Default Jeep occasionally won't start

I have an 08 JKU Rubi with 45k miles. A few months ago I replaced the battery with a Heavy Duty one after it failed to start the jeep and it tested weak .

Since then, one morning my wife went to start the jeep and no luck. I jumped it and sent her on her way knowing I was going to swap vehicles at lunch and have the battery and alternator tested. Every thing checked out good.

So today my wife called me on her way home and told me it didn't start on the first attempt in the morning and evening. She didn't have to jump it she just turned the key off then on again.

Has anyone had this problem? Kind of reminds me when a boat isn't in neutral it won't start.

Thanks Kevin

have you tried seeing if putting it in neutral will start it? could be a bad park/neutral switch-sensor

Check inside the fuse box as well. My power wire (top left corner in box) was loose and would cause my jeep to falter at times. It would run fine, and 5 min later no lights, nothing etc.... Tightened the wire and poof, never happened again..

I have an 08 unlimited X automatic, what has happened to me is sometimes the gear shift selector is not engaged in park properly and she wont start but just get a click. I will put my foot on the brake and move the gear shift (jiggle it to the front) and she will start every time...

This is a very common problem, lots of posts. Mine does this, seems to happen most in the summer though. A slight jiggle of the shifter is all mine needs to work as normal.

My old Cherokee did the same thing.

Agreed. Have had this happen a few times (auto). Push forward on the shifter and its started for me everytime.

I have the same problem. 2011 JKU with auto. Putting it in neutral works every time. I'm still trying to figure out the exact cause. I think mine is the switch sensor issue mentioned above.
