Jeep Gas cap door question

Jeep Gas cap door question
I just purchased a aftermarket gas cap door for my wifes 09 Rubicon. In the catalog it said no drilling but when I took it out of the box I found that it requires 4 holes to be drill in the OEM plastic that surrounds the gas cap. Before I do this I would like to know how the gas cap door from Jeep mounts. If it doesn't require drilling, I will return this one and get the Jeep one. Any input would be appreciated.

I got the Mopar door in black for the wifes black Jk. it took all of about 20 minites to install and no drilling was required.
Gives a nice flush look to the Jk and keeps all the debris out during the winter months here in Pa.

I got the Bestop JK gas door. it was about $10-15 cheaper than Mopar's. No drilling was required. just needed to snap off one stud depending on if it is a 2dr vs 4dr.

Heh, it was 99.00 when I purchased it in Dec. Looks like it's closer to the price on the mopar one. And shows highrock and not bestop... go figure....

I've got the rugged ridge one, and yes, it required 4 holes. In the plastic trip around the gas cap. Otherwise, the screws won't line up correctly.
It isn't hard. Drill 1 little hole, start that screw, then drill the other three. Then tighten them. It's easier than the models that require you to take apart the whole assembly, and it looks just fine.

Wow, great info guys. I never knew that there was a difference. I'm in the process of ordering one now. Last romp in the mud clogged the little drain hole and I had to scoop mud and water out of the filler area in order to put gas in.

I originally bought the Rampage one that requires putting four screws into the plastic surround. But when I got it in the mail and looked at it, didn't like it so much. So I returned it and got the Mopar one and have had it for about 7-8 months with no complaints.

I got the RAMPAGE
It comes with 4 tiny sheetmetal screws, that don't require drilling, because you're attaching to PLASTIC, the screws have a NEEDLE tip, so they attach using PRESSURE
