I can't take it...I am ready to sell it because of this high pitched, over small bumps on road, sounds like bird chirping squeak.

I had the rear seatbelt assembly replaced cuz it made a ratcheting noise - this did not get rid of the chirp.

I took the rear seat cover, and lifted foam up, put rubber padding between steel parts and oiled all hinges/bolts (when I was hitting down on the middle of the seat, right at the front of it, it made the squeak/chirp)...

went for a ride, still there

oiled the rear seat belts pulley bolts up top - still there

Of course, when the temp is above 0, it doesnt do it...(like the 2 times I've had it in for this and I can't show them how gdam annoying this is)

Does anyone have this problem or an idea for me to check?

It's your front doors flexing and squeaking against the top. Jeep has a revised door latch for both sides. I just had mine done today, but they have to send me the paperwork so I don't have the part numbers. As soon as I get the paperwork I will post them up.

If you do a search for "Anoying Door Clunk", you'll find more info. There's a part number listed, but when I took it into my dealer, they said another part number already superseeded that one.

You can adjust the door strike on the body to pull slightly down on the door and move it in a little. This will fix it, but makes the doors hard to close.

My dealer replaced them, no questions asked, so kudo's to them.

As soon as I get the numbers, I promise I'll post for everybody.

 

thank you for replying. but mine isnt a 'clunk' (i HAD this clunk, and i did lower the door latch on the front passenger side I believe it was)....this is different in terms of the noise

its a squeaking constant sometimes high pitched rub chirping over every little variance in the road...the colder it is, the more of a song it becomes. its ridiculous, and what pisses me off is after they 'fix' it, the weather is warmer, and when I try to show them its still there, it doesnt do it.

i spent another 30 mins outdoors last night freezing trying to get rid of what i thought it was

 

I know what you mean, but I still think it's the doors. Mine didn't have the clunk either, just the squeak. Try going over some bumps that you know it will happen on, but open the door when you go over them and see if it still does it. If it does, you can eliminate the doors as the cause and look elsewhere.

 

I will. When you get the part #s for the replaced door latches please let me know. My dealership' employed all walk around with a stunned look on their faces.

I have fiddled with the latch before,thinking that was it, and as i recall it did stop it for a bit, but it comes back...the one service guy who came out for a ride and nothing happened stated it was doubtful it was a metal but rather a plastic noise (if any cuz he couldnt hear it of course)

the one screw head ive stripped a bit cuz i dont have the right size...im afraid to undo it again....maybe i will

 

First off, are you sure it's coming from the inside? 2nd, if you have a hard top, there is a good chance that the squeak is in fact coming from your doors or rear glass window. Sometimes re-seating your hard top insuring that it sits properly will do the trick. Try to sit in the back seat and listen while someone pushes in and out on the spare tire. This should cause your tailgate and glass window to move in and out and you may find that the squeak is coming from here.

 

Hi, yes, its definately in the inside. The noise has been doing it since I've had it, so that includes both tops being on it. I will try the spare tire thing though. The hardtop I put on VERY carefully, making sure it was on there right, as I've had 3 service app'ts for a leaking hardtop too.

That would leave the doors the only thing constant all year long, but I've adjusted the door latch thing...

 

Well, in order to fix a squeak, you really need to find where it's coming from first. The best thing I can recommend is that you have someone drive your Jeep while you sit in the back listening for it. Once you find it, just about any squeak can be fixed with ease. Now, just to make sure you know, some squeaks coming from the outside can be intense enough to make it sound like it's coming from the inside. Such squeaks would include something like transmission/driveline squeaks or a loose rocker guard/side step. Both are either attached to the body or make there way into it so you should consider them suspect as well.

 

i have that annoying squeak as well. I will open the doors to see if its them but i think it is now that mike posted that. i dont remember ever hearing the squeak with the doors were off

 

OK, i think its the rear seat itself. you hit the top near where your back of knees would be if you were sitting, and it makes the noise, every time....but ive had the fabric up and the foam pulled back, i put spacers of rubber in spots, oiled it and cut off a little circular metal thingy holding down a tube that was in the foam...and still there...i may try tightening the bolts when i get a chance. please anyone else with ideas about the seat let me know, i dont have time right now to try and fix it just yet
