Default Immediate help needed!!!!!

I am trying to get my rear diff cover off to fix a leak and i cant get it off for the life of me. Any tricks??? I took all the bolts off the front am I missing some??? HELP ME PLZ!!!!!!

been trying that with a chisel and screw driver but have no luck, ill go try with a scraper.

yes it was the first time and wow, that should not have been that hard, but eventually it came off. thanks for the quick responses, much appriciated!!

If u r trying to get the rear diff cover off - yoh have to take the bolts off the rear! Not the front.

Oh man, that could be why........ i thought the bolts when all the way through, from the front diff to the rear diff. Glad I have these forums to help me out.

If you went at it with a chisel and hammer, be sure to inspect the two mating surfaces very well. one good gouge and you may have sealing problems, Just sayin.

thanks for the help, I hardly used the chisel and never hit it very hard, was just trying to get some of the silicone out with it. Best part is the seal that I applied looks much better than the old one, i have a nice ooze all the way around the cover.

Have removed covers many time and the best method for me is to wack the thing from the side with a dead blow hammer. They seem to just pop right off.

I have switched to Lube Lockers in lew of RTV. Less mess and if you bounce off of a rock the thing doesn't shift and start leaking.
