Well, yesterday looked pretty good, so I took the front panels off and went just outside of Vernonia (Oregon). Sky opened up and instantly regretted removing them and leaving at home. Seems there's a BIG leak when they're not on.

Seriously, though... I've now taken them off 4 times, have been through the local, "no-touch" car wash several times and everything stayed dry... no leaks to note so far.

I've been very careful in re-installing the top every time I take it off. Other's notes have been helpful, but I am wondering about what effect over-tightening the screw-in knobs will do to the seals long-term.

 

I ran my through a full touch wash on Saturday, I was very concerned, however my top stayed tight as a drum. My JK was built 2-07, and I have had 0 leaks thus far. My top has been off 3 times and the panels have been off 10+ times already.

 

I've had mine since October and it hasn't leaked yet. We haven't had much rain here, but I've intentionally blasted it with high pressure when washing it to see if it would leak--hasn't yet. I've only had the panels out twice.

 

My freedom top has never leaked, top has been off about 3 times...have went through the car wash several times with no leaks. Purchased late January.

 

First experience last night with removing and reinstalling the 2 panels. Following the directions here and in the manual, and mainly just taking my time, I reinstalled the passenger panel first, then the driver's side panel. Again, taking my time. I ran my Rubicon through the car wash and absolutely no leaks. Then went to vaccuum the car and about half-hour later reinstalled the panels, passenger first then driver.

Went to watch my son's soccer practice and a light rain began to fall, so I moved my car under a tree, removed the panels from the freedom top storage bag (which I recommend) and reinstalled them.

I have had mine through a no-touch car wash 5 or 6 times with no leaks, it set out in a heavy rain all day yesterday and when I got in it, the console, cup holders were all wet and when I stopped at a stop sign water would run forward and down on the dash and radio (first rain it's been in). Called dealer, taking it in this morning. Service manager told me there is 8 seal kits listed on his TSB for the fix. We'll see what happens.

Bought it just before christmas.. had the top off 3 times now. Wash it once per week.

 

I have noticed mine doesnt leak but the water runs down the pilar when I open the door after it has rained hard. Should I still get the seals replaced?

 

After I bought my Jeep back in September I had the leak partly due to the dealership not putting the top back on correctly, followed the instructions (from both this website and the owners book) and nothing has leaked since. Just take your time, correctly install the freedom top as per the instructions and dry as a bone.

 

I don't have the leak from the freedom top panels but rear window leaks and have a wet carpet. Supposed to be a TSB for this though.

My Freedom Top panels although they don't leak whistle around 45 mph. Doesn't matter how I seat them it always comes back, kind of annoying not sure if I'm going to bother the dealership about it though.
