Default Ice Build Up

I turned my wipers on this morning and they sounded like a blender on low speed. I thought maybe one was loose and started messin with it...and relized there was a solid block of ice that had built up under the wiper cowl. Anybody else have this?

Yes - mine actually froze "up" (against the windshield) yesterday night on the ride home from work. I had to physically (gently) force them back down, with ice cracking while I did... not the most intelligent design!

Yes, I thought this was strange. I noticed nothing similar in my wife's Liberty.

I get that here all the time. We have this stuff at my house that is called DeIce. Its a spray just like windex except its bright yellow, that you spray on the windows and where ever else you want to remove ice and I swear its great and turns the ice into a liquid right away. I spray the soft top windows, the regular windows, and the windshield wipers every time and it instantly removes the ice and build up and prevents that scraping uneven thing that happens with wipers. Don't know where my dad got it from but its amazing. Everyone in my family has a bottle of it. I highly recommend it.

Buy a little spray bottle of the DeIce and keep it in the Jeep.

I hate winter, I'm thinking of moving out west after watching all the cool Jeep videos those guys make!

yes i have noticed this as well
seems that snow and ice go into the cowl louvers and what is right below the wiper motor.
and it freezes up sometimes solid and the wipers stop or other times it breaks off and u have that blender thing going on.
very obvious the jeep engineers didn't see this one
ya a cover would be a great idea i know they had them for tj and yjs but will those fit on the jk?

when i know this type of weather is comping i put a magnetic sheet across it or a bag with 34 magazines inside of it.

i have had it so bad with the ice it actually lifted the cowl on rotation of the wiper motor. that was weird to see the cowl come up and inch and a half.

i'll be watching to see where this thread goes cause i need a solution.

If anyboby had one of those TJ cowl scoops or knows the dimensions of the cowl vent...we could find out if the TJ version would work with JK's..

12 3/4 inch long x 7 inch wide would of space to work with to cover it and the vents them selves are
11 1/2 inch long x 6 inch wide , this is the actual size of the louvers.
