Default HVAC fan noise

My HVAC fan started making some noise. Kind of a whistling noise. It still works fine, just noisy as hell. I removed the fan motor and it's totally clean, and never seen any water. It appears to be a sealed unit. Anyone here had this happen? Im at 40k, just seems pretty premature for the fan motor to go out.

Does it make the whistling noise when it is running while removed?

A whistling noise usually means it's the air flowing by something that is making the sound.

Mine did something similar and then it stopped working all together. It stopped the day after last christmas and had to be replaced. Mine sound like pine strap was slapping the blades or something. I got 39k on mine and already had to have that replaced.

Yes. The motor makes the noise when removed. When installed, and turned on, then to off, it makes a whirring noise until it stops. Thinking it's time to replace it. At least it's easy to remove.

No. It's a sealed unit. The fan appears to be stamped onto the motor shaft. It's very easy to R&R, but haven't checked on a price yet.

I solved the whistling issue by wrapping the bottom in duct tape. Please let us know when you find the best price for a replacement
