Default How Many Miles do you get using a 1/4 tank?

Hey everyone I just used a 1/4 tank just now and I got around 70 miles in by shifting at 2500 rpm. This is with highway and city driving does this sound good? I'm due for an oil change so after it should be better. I'm guessing I used about 4 gallons of gas.

How many doors on your Jeep? Two doors and four doors have different size gas tanks. But, my experience on my four door is I don't get as many miles from a quarter tank to near empty as I do from full to three-quarters tank. However, when I go to fill it, even though I was just about empty on the gauge, it seems that I actually had about 3 gallons or so remaining in the tank.

Agreed, the gauge moves faster the less fuel I have.

Usually I have about 2.5 gallons left when the light comes on, about 4 left at 1/4 tank.

I don't know that any make/model vehicle has a linear fuel quantity indicating system.

I agree. They all seem to drain faster the nearer empty they are.

Default The gas tank on a 2dr holds 18.5 gallons

1/4 of that is 4.625x17 mpg = 78.625.

That was easy.

I don't use a quarter tank. I use the whole thing and fill up whenever it gets below half-full. Once the light comes on I usually drive about 60-90 miles. Keep her full, that way when you want to go off-road, you don't have to cut your wheeling short because you were low on gas.

I can usually go farther on no gas than I can on the last 1/8 tank.

(meaning after I fill up, the amount I can drive before the needle moves off full.)

i never, ever trust the needle on a gas gauge. they are good for guesstimating only.
