Default How Far Can You Go on Low Fuel Warning?

The DTE ( Distance to Empty) milage display on my JK drops out at about 42 miles and the guage reads LO FUEL....

Damn I want it to count down to zero.

Seriously anyone know the max range from the time the low fuel light comes on?

Any way to get DTE reading to continue to count down on the guage?

ASK COSMO KRAMER. Its the question EVERYONE want to know the answer to. I myself will only do an additional 10 or so miles with the low feul indicator lit. Not good to go that low in the tank.

mine says LO FUEL at about 30 miles and the best way to tell is to see how much gas you can fit in the tank to see how much was left :P

your fuel pump is cooled by the gas, so not good to go too low often

The 2-door has a 18.6 Gallon Tank & the Unlimited a 21.6 Gallon Tank
Basically what I found in my Unlimited just wanted to know for future reference so I have run it down to LO Fuel a couple of times and had 3 - 4 gallons left each time. The last quarter tank drops really fast compared to the other 3/4. Guess thats why.

I read somewhere that the light comes on at an 8th of a tank. Ive been getting roughly 300 miles per tank. 300/8=37.5 miles. dont push your luck- when that light comes on-- easy on the skinny.

If I recall correctly from a thread I read on here once, the light goes on just about when your JK is down to 2 gallons (30-32 miles). All you really can do is estimate your miles from your odometer. I too wish the dash would countdown.

I do too. But I would be one of those jeepers that would test the limits of my miles left to actually see the 5 4 3 2 1 .... Few more miles after? And DONE

I have gone 60-70 miles after it came on, from somewhere in Denver to midtown Colorado Springs. that was a little far, as I got 21.2 IIRC gallons in the tank. Most of the time if I fill up as soon as the light goes on I get 17-18 gallons or so in, so about 3-4 gallons left. For me it depends on what kind of driving I am doing, if in the city I fill it up pretty quick. On the highway, I don't worry too much. With synthetic oil and 30k miles I have had my mileage jump to 22-24 if I keep it at 65, and always let the cruise decide the throttle - that is up to 90 miles after it comes on.
