how to disable seatbelt chime? 2010 JK
#32
Before you thank too much it might be appropriate to get an answer as to whether this mod affects the correct deployment of the airbags and whether it might just cause a fire. Tin foil mods have been known to do this, apparently, after further investigation. Not giving the guy who posted this a hard time but we need to make sure this mod is safe before recommending it further.

Your dealer is full of shit as always!
I asked them about this before I took delivery of my 2010 and they fed me the same line, can't be done!
I told them if they did not disable the seatbelt chimes I would not take delivery of it. They drove it around to the service bay hooked it up to star scan tool and disabled the chime in 2 minutes! No more seatbelt chimes
They can do all sorts of things but don;t want to if they don't have to, kind of like warranty work!

I downloaded the 2011 full manual and put it on my iPhone. Went outside and disabled the seat belt reminder, the auto lock doors once you get over a certain speed, and changed the key fob to unlock all doors on one press instead of two.

There is a thread somewhere regarding jumping the connectors with a paperclip. Making your Jeep think you have your seatbelt on isn't going to prevent the airbag from deploying-the purpose of the airbag is to supplement the seatbelt (that's why it is called a supplemental restraint system). However, they can be harmful if not properly restrained with the belt. They have very powerful explosive charges in them. We once lifted a Ford Fiesta off 2 wheels by discharging an airbag module underneath it during some fire department training. You don't want that bag hitting your chest full force with no seatbelt holding you back-you might as well hit the steering wheel=ruptured aorta (real bad).
