how to disable seatbelt chime? 2010 JK
#11
Actually, it does have it in the manual. In mine, anyway. It disables the chime, but the light still comes on. I just downloaded an e-copy of the manual today, lemme look....
The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be enabled
or disabled by your authorized dealer or by
following these steps:
NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first
60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON
or START position. The manufacturer does not recommend
deactivating the Enhanced Warning System
(BeltAlert).
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, and
buckle the driver’s seat belt.
2. Turn the ignition key to the ACC/RUN position
(engine does not need to be running), and wait for the
Seat Belt Warning Light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle
and then re-buckle the driver’s seat belt at least three
times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt
buckled.
4. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. A single
chime will sound to signify that you have successfully
completed the programming.
The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be reactivated
by repeating this procedure.
NOTE: Although the Enhanced Warning System
(BeltAlert) has been deactivated, the Seat Belt Warning
Light will continue to illuminate while the driver’s seat
belt remains unfastened.

Unfortunately the described procedure is not what I need. I need to suppress the initial chime so that I can start the engine and then buckle at my leisure. My wife throws a fit every time she hears it. I don't know what moron at Chrysler came up with this. In all normal cars the chime occurs when you shift out of park unbuckled.

People should be able to ask legitimate questions without assholes like you with ignorant responses. In case you haven't figured it out, that's what airbags are for. And to further show your ignorance, you are likely to receive more severe injuries WITH a seatbelt on a side impact.

there's always the classic 'scrapyard fix'...
get an old belt...cut off the buckle...
pop it in the clip as you leave the jeepster...
then it'll be 'buckled-upp' when you return...no chime...
then when you get ready to pull away...swap for buckle/belt...
having already done the chime fix for driving chime silence...
easy fix...lotsa words... !!!
