Hitch on X
I bought a JK - X without a hitch.....
Question: Can I buy a Mopar or after market hitch and add it to the JK without having to modify the plastic on the underside?
Thanks

You don't have to modify anything, it is a very simple install.
Look under your bumper you will see a rear cross member right under it with four big holes in it. The hitch comes with four big bolts, and you guessed it... It is simply a matter of tightening four big bolts and it is installed. See this link.
Do yourself a favor and buy the Mopar wiring harness. Installing that is even easier. It has push pins pre-tied to the harness that match up with small pre-drilled holes in the frame, you simply push them in as you route the wiring harness to the hitch, very clean. See this link.

Thank you all for the very fast response...
I was worried about the pastic molding around the bottom of the bumper. I saw the four holes and figured that the mounting when around that and bolted in. I am not worried about wire harness at this point, I just need a rack to carry extra cargo for my trip...
Thanks again much appreciated

Here is mine, it's homemade but patterned off the factory and aftermarket hitches. Nothing needs to be modified or cut, it just bolts up on the crossmember. There is already a little notch in the plastic from the factory for clearance. I'm like you, I don't tow a trailer but I needed a receiver to use as a tow point and to add a rack when needed.
