Default Hill Descent Working?

I have a 2011 JK 2dr auto, when I was out yesterday, the terrain was very steep. I thought I would try the Hill Descent button, no lights came on or any thing else. It did seem to slow me down. I checked the manual, and it reports on pg 415 when you press the button a light on the dash will light. I looked in Sect 4 (JK manual) and it does not show where this light would be. I was in 4 LO and in first gear.

*just to add to the OP's question

i don't know much about the hill descent button or what it does but wouldn't engaging 4L and driving in 1st gear be the same thing. I've descended very steep-gravel hills in 4L/1st gear sometimes applying the brake and it worked ok with my X's gear ratio. i would assume a rubi can handle it better.

Yes. That's why if you have a manual you don't need a hill descent button.

I have a 2011 as well and tried it out today, same thing. No light came on but what I did notice is that the rbakes grab independantly at a grueling pace of .3214322 miles per hour. I was expecting threw light but no notification it was active, you do know once it is deactivated, make sure to cover the brake before disengaging the HD.

I have pushed the button while on level ground in 2wd and 4wd hi the light did come on. I am assuming the Chrysler assumes that if your in 4 lo, you must know what your doing?!?!?

Ummm, you can still use 4lo in 1st, which is what I did after 5 seconds of watching the paint peel w/ hill descent control.
