I also had a hard time the first couple times... I found some videos when searching youtube. they really helped

Second to the last picture. you need to pull the sails back and secure them around the corners before pulling it all the way forward.

so go to the front raise the hard top up to the first point it stop. snap down the sails then try lowering the front again see where you are at.

Are you sure those latches dont reach? take the handle on it and open it up wider. It looks like it should work... It looks like the latches are in the closed position right now

Looks like they do reach but they are too far forward. The whole thing need to be pulled back a tad.

See if you can get the latches hooked without closing them and then secure your sail panels. You will probably need to lightly pull down from the top above the sail panel to get a little slack. Once those are secured, tuck in your drip rails above the doors. Finally, secure the latches.
