Default Help!

Hello,

I am from the Cayman Islands and I have a 2011 4 door jeep wrangler. Altho this is my first post i have been a member for a while and read the site daily! This is such a useful tool!

Anyway I know I have seen this on the fourm a few times, but i can seem to find it. Can some one please tell me how to turn it off or direct me to the page that explains how to do this. But my jeep feels like it hitting the brakes every time i let my foot off the gas. I remember there is a way i can turn off this, i think it is called hill assist? I am not sure, but its annoying and i am sure it killing my gas milage.

Thanks Guys for you help

I remember when my 08' was new it felt tight like your describing. Maybe it just needs to be broken in? My gas mileage was bad too up until around 3000 or so miles.

If you wish to turn off the HSA system, follow this
procedure:
1. Start with the engine off and vehicle in PARK (automatic
transmission) or NEUTRAL with clutch out
(manual transmission) with wheels straight. Apply parking
brake on manual transmission vehicle.

2. Start the engine.

3. With the engine running, the brake applied, and the
clutch out, rotate the steering wheel a half a turn counterclockwise
from center.

4. Press the “ESC Off” switch four times within twenty
seconds.

5. Rotate the steering wheel a full turn clockwise (half
turn clockwise from center).

6. Cycle ignition switch OFF then ON.

7. If the sequence was completed properly, the “ESC
Malfunction Indicator Light” will blink several times to
confirm HSA is off.

Steps 1-7 must be completed within 90 seconds to turn off
HSA. Repeat steps 1-7 to re-enable HSA functionality.

I think you might mean hill descent, not assist. Should be a button on the dash

You should read the whole thread I originally linked to above... they are two different things but the hill decent control is only used in 4-low. Disabling the hill start assist seemed to help people with coasting issues, exactly like the OP suggests is happening to him.

HSA is disabled either through the steering wheel dance listed above (and in the manual) or by way of the EVIC (Electronic Vehicle Information Center) if your Jeep is equipped with the EVIC. My 2011 Sahara has it, part of the Connectivity Group I believe.

HDC as I understand it is a feature for automatic transmission vehicles. According to my manual (again - a 2011 model, Automatic) this feature is only available when in 4WD LOW and at speeds below 30 MPH.

I have the stupid hill whatever it is, and there is no button on the dash. I get the same thing....take the foot off the gas, and it seems like the brake is applied. Stupid Dodge; why put that on a vehicle?

Welcome!
Is yours a manual or automatic shift?
Because my auto does brake quite a bit on the engine when I lift off the gas. I find it very useful in the hills.

But you don't have hills... just a beautiful island
