Default Having Trouble Shifting Into 4WD?

Just wanted to get an idea, how many Jeeper's are having problems shifting into/out of 4-Lo & 4-Hi. I'm reading quite a few posts, regarding the Plastic Bushing Breaking Issue, and it just seems ridiculous, that something so cheap and inexpensive is what's getting Jeeper's stranded.

If you’ve broken the Plastic Bushing, and had to have it replaced by another one, or fixed it using a Zip Tie, Cotter Pin, etc., please provide a response letting us know!

Thanks for your inputs!

Cheers!

BB

4-hi no problem at all. Only problem is that it's a little tricky getting into and out of 4-lo. I have to be rolling in neutral at about 1-3mph before it will engage.

No problem here either. Same as most people will say have a little momentum in neutral , and a steady pull into 4lo. I think mine has got easier with some miles and age on it thought, plus I changed the transfer case oil to Royal Purple synthetic, not sure if that helps but like to think that it does. Gi

My girlfriend couldn't get it to shift out of 4 hi to 2wd. But... the problem may have only been the fact that she's a girl.

Now that I got the bushing replaced it shifts fine. Who came up with that idea any way?? I had to tie it together with rope when it broke on the trail. Glad I was mechanical enough to figure out what was wrong. That woulda been a LONG WALK.

I shift into and out of 4lo while at a complete standstill. It is best while on a grade where I can move the vehicle forward or back by just releasing a little brake pressure. If the transfer case doesn't slide right into 4lo I just move the vehicle a foot or so in either direction and it will slide right in. No grinding what-so-ever.

never had any problems, do by the book 1-3 mph and it slips right in and out of low, 4hi no problem at any speed.
